Course Modules 

 If there is something special you want to learn that you cannot find in the following list, tell me and I will create a new module just for you.  

Fluency To be fluent you need idioms, linking words, prepositional phrases and a rich vocabulary.

Pronunciation and Intonation  If you learnt English only from reading – or from teachers who are not native-speakers – you may have developed some bad habits.  It is better to learn English from a native English speaker.

Conversational English Learn to speak English confidently at college, work and in social gatherings.  

English Grammar Grammar creates structure, logic and meaning.  If you are confident about grammar you will speak and write more freely. I focus on those areas of grammar that you need to fix.

English for Business  The appropriate terminology and style for letters, contracts, reports and meetings  

English for Computer Sciences Computation requires the international  technical jargon in English.

English for Medicine Learn the phrases appropriate for medical diagnosis, research and presentations.

English for Law The practice of law requires the use of  specialised terms in English, many of which are Latin in origin.  I know Latin.

English for University and Science  Learn to write logically, objectively and succinctly and deal with statistics.

Applying for a Job  Letters of application, resumes and doing well at job-interviews.

English for Travel  Book a hotel, rent a car, reserve a seat on a train, boat or plane.

English for Fun  Enjoy the vocabulary of show-business, sport, gambling and, if you wish, colloquial slang.

English in Journalism Journalism has a style of its own in print, radio and TV.

English Literature Learn to appreciate the rhythm and rhymes of the language.  Sample some literary styles.

Academic Standards

 My  academic standards are guided by the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR) as well as criteria issued by the various British, USA, Canadian, Australian and other examining bodies.   This is relevant if you want me to help prepare you for an examination such as TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, CPE, GMAT or any of the Cambridge certificates.
